Made the jump from WordPress to Squarespace

I'm in the process of moving my main website from Wordpress to Squarespace. I wasn't unhappy with Wordpress. I just thought Squarespace was a better fit for me. One thing I'll miss about Wordpress is that it was easy to upload multiple images for a blog post at once as inline / individual images. I don't think you can do that in Squarespace. At least I haven't figured out how to do it in the other Squarespace blog I work on.

The process was fairly straight-forward. There are a few glitches I need to work out. In Wordpress I always tried to use a featured image for blog posts. I think the equivalent here is the thumbnail image. I'm pretty sure the template I've chosen (Wexley) supports them. I'm going to do a little test here. (Note: I think Wexley makes use of Promoted Blocks - I will test that feature. I think it treats the first block as the Promoted Block.)

On Saturday, I shot photos at a Roselit Bone show at Tim's Tavern in Seattle. The full band didn't play that night, just lead singer Joshua McCaslin and violinist Faith Grossnicklaus. As always, they were excellent.

I set that image to Quality 70% when I exported it from Lightroom. It's a little over 3MB. I think Squarespace recommends keeping images to 500kb. I'm curious what other photographers have settled on. I don't think I've done any post-processing on this image. Maybe a slight exposure adjustment. I think it's one of the first times, though, where I've noticed the potential for a sharpening improvement. If you look where Faith's left hand connects with Josh's right shoulder, it looks like the camera's sensor (Fujifilm XT2) had some difficulty rendering that.

For a quick comparison, here is the same image at 422kb.

I shot the photos for Rain City Collective. Shameless plug - please drop by our site and say hello.
