On the Streets: A Birthday, Cold Bikes, and a Frosty Capitol Hill
Linda's Tavern celebrated its 24th birthday on 21 February 2018. They did it in fine fashion, too, with DJs, tarot card readings, and cake. I only know that because I saw the flyer. I got there after things were winding down because I was reluctant to leave my apartment. Seattle got snow that night. It was cold, and the sidewalks got icy fast. I delayed going out into the elements long enough to miss the DJ sets.
I wanted to be there when the festivities kicked off to see Linda Derschang, the force behind Linda's and several other Seattle restaurants, and Jonah Bergman, one of the owners of Bait Shop, spinning tunes. It would have been cool to see Linda at Linda's. She's famous on Capitol Hill and throughout Seattle for her successful bars and restaurants. She's getting even more famous for a stylish Instagram feed that features a cute newspaper fetching Westie, a fantastic condo, a cool Fiat, and a focus on arts and travel.
I was also curious to hear Jonah's music selections. I see him behind the bar at Bait Shop fairly often. I like listening to him talking to customers and DJs about music. I suspect that he thinks about music the way Tarantino thinks about movies. The knowledge about movies, that is, not creatively planning 90 minutes of blood and violence behind the turntables.
Anyways, Happy Birthday Linda's.
Still here? I wandered up to Big Mario's for a late night piece of pizza. I had a great dinner earlier on at Suika, but I was a little hungry and had nothing at home. As I was making my way back to my section of Capitol Hill I decided for the heck of it to shoot quick pics of any snow-covered bikeshares I happened upon. I'll only add a few of them, along with some miscellaneous Capitol Hill shots.
