Pennywise on Broadway
There were some great Halloween costumes on Capitol Hill this year. I envy people their costuming creativity. I think my favorite, though, was Pennywise. I don’t know who the person was behind the costume, but they did a great job.
This photo of Pennywise was my favorite. I spotted It walking south along Broadway and rushed to get a couple of shots. Despite having been on my way home I turned around and followed Pennywise, hoping to get something closer. Pennywise spotted me as he was climbing the stairs to the High Line and generously paused for a couple of photos. Those ones scared the heck out of me, too, but this one seemed to capture the spookiness best.
[If you’ve made it this far, you get the bonus grammar note. I suspect some readers would have preferred he/she or he or she in “I don’t know who the person was behind the costume, but they did a great job.” There was probably a time I would have agreed, but they just seems like a much better alternative. And that’s what I’ll stick with until an editor or someone paying me to write demands otherwise.]
