Go 4th and tell stories
I’ve wanted to start a site dedicated to visual essays for a while. There are a lot of really good ones out there already, so it’s nothing new under the sun. But the bar for entry to those is, understandably, pretty high. Those of us who are interested in photography and storytelling could use a low stress option for practicing and presenting our work. I could have done this on my main blog page, but I wanted to open the doors for others to join. Photography can be a solitary pursuit; it’s much better to work with and learn from others.
I finally created the landing page the other day. The next hurdle was coming up with the opening essay, post, or piece. I opted for something simple and asked people I know in Seattle to try and take a photo – any photo – at 7:04 on 4 July 2018. I told them not to worry too much about getting the shot exactly at 7:04. For this light-hearted first entry, a good faith effort was all that mattered. We hope everyone had a safe, fun 4th.
