Ninety-seven percent of climate scientists agree that climate-warming trends over the past century are extremely likely due to human activities, and most of the leading scientific organizations worldwide have issued public statements endorsing this position.

One man arrived to tell people they’d burn in hell if they did not turn to Jesus. He also called climate change a hoax and said that even if it were real, there’s nothing that could be done about it. I didn’t catch the reasoning behind that, but I think he was suggesting that it was arrogant to believe that humans can interfere with a divine plan.
The crowd alternated between confronting him and ignoring him. The following photos show young people weighing in with their views. Then Jesus showed up to say that the man preaching “repent” was misguided, and he asked people to love one another, respect the earth, and follow the example of indigenous people in caring for the earth.
Earlier in the day things were more tense and direct.
