There's an excellent article by Peter Jamison in the Washington Post about the residents of Tangier Island, VA, and their community's response to COVID-19. Great writing and reporting, and Katherine Frey's photos help bring the story to life.
I'm surprised the reporter was able to get the conversations that he did. I'm not trying to generalize, but in my experience of traveling either to islands or small communities, residents keep outsiders at a distance. Combine that with what seems like a global pattern - people are wary about discussing COVID-19 diagnoses. I'm glad the residents spoke to the reporter.
