Little Anatolian

I went to Monroe, Washington, yesterday to shoot some promotional photos for Beast Folk, a Seattle band. I loved the setting, a big creamery with tons of goats. I couldn’t believe how friendly they were. Marsha, the woman who runs the place, told us that they’re Swiss, and that they’re the friendliest kind of goat. She also said they produce the best milk. I got the sense that she believes there is a correlation between the two.

Working with the band and getting shots they’d be happy with was the priority for the day, but there were plenty of other highlights, too. It was nice to get out of Seattle and hang out at a working creamery. My favorite part of the day, though, was meeting the Anatolian Shepherds. I love these dogs, but I haven’t been around too many up close. The ones at the creamery were friendly and gentle. Marsha attributed their friendliness to being properly socialized. She also explained that they are very intelligent and independent. She cautioned, though, that they are protective, and that if Marsha hadn’t been with us, the dogs would have objected to our being there. I don’t doubt that for a second.

We switched locations a few times. On the move to the last location I hastily filmed this shepherd puppy. I wanted to dognap the little fella. I was pretty impressed with what the Fujifilm XT2 was able to do in the lowlight and no time to check settings. I was using the 18-55mm kit lens.
