Rant

Rant

My friend Rant is a talented photographer, toy maker, sewer, model, and all around nice person. I was in a creative rut, not taking the photos I wanted to take. I’m not interested in taking landscape or architecture photos. I like looking at them, and I respect the creativity and work that goes into them, but I’m not interested in taking those photos. It’s people for me. But I’m bad at creating the opportunities to take photos of people.

Rant is incredibly creative and always up for trying things. I wanted to shoot something reminiscent of Helmut Newton’s work, so I asked Rant if they’d be up for it. Rant didn’t hesitate. We went to a few vintage shops, brainstormed, got Nika and Dan involved, and set a date.

I took most of my photos on a Fujifilm X-H1 with one light. I’ve posted the images here, but I’m too lazy to find the link. Dan and Nika used some film cameras. At the end of the shoot I switched to my Hasselblad 500cm and took a few hasty shots. I finally got the roll developed. Here’s one of the images.
