Pebble n the Crick, Lopez Island, and Iris
A few weeks ago I went to Lopez Island for the weekend to see my friends Pebble n the Crick play two live shows at Vita’s Wildly Delicious and the Lopez Islander Resort. Pebble n the Crick was one of the first live acts I saw after moving to Seattle. It was a show at Stone Way Cafe in Fremont. I think it might have been the first time that Derek and Stacy played officially as Pebble n the Crick.
I wanted to try shooting a cohesive travel video. Nothing fancy, but a minimalist, simple video that could stand on its own. I didn’t succeed. Video is hard. The trip was great, though. I’ve followed Derek and Abe’s posts about buying and working a farm on Lopez Island. Derek’s already selling produce at the farmers’ market, and he’s raising Iris, one of the internet’s most charismatic goats. Iris’ mom died giving birth. A sad day on the farm, but Iris is happy and thriving.
And while I didn’t shoot the video footage I had in mind, I was able to get some photos that I’m happy with. The photos have incomplete captions. I forgot the names of the other two bands pictured. I know the people, though, and will be able to update the captions soon.
On the remarkably slim chance that someone planning a trip to Lopez Island happens upon this page, I give The Islander a thumbs up. I also recommend making the short, scenic drive to Watmough Bay. Absolutely beautiful. There’s a short, easy walk from the parking lot to the beach.
