Unexpected Serenade

For a while now I’ve worried that I’ve forgotten what little I know about shooting video and using Adobe’s Premiere Pro. I wanted to get out and shoot something. I’ve always loved Palle Schultz’s Copenhagen Winter Postcard, so I thought I’d try for something along those lines. Keep in mind that Palle Schultz is a professional film-maker. I have no idea how he shot and assembled that.

I have two main video options – a Fujifilm X-H1 and a DJI Osmo Pocket. The gear isn’t important. What is important was the paralysis. I sat staring at both options for a long time. Seriously, a long time. The sun was falling. In the end I took both, but I only planned on using the DJI Osmo for a timelapse.

I walked over to Volunteer Park, and I struggled mightily. Focusing, managing the highlights, etc. I also should have taken a mic. My plan was just to throw in some stock music, but there was no way I was going to scrap Pasquale’s music. If you’ve spent much time in Seattle, you’ve probably seen and heard Pasquale, whether playing his violin or riding around that big old cruiser bike. He’s always got a smile for folks.
