Wow, Fareed Zakaria just summed up in a couple of minutes what I've been trying to argue - inarticulately - for years. (Dad, you'll like this clip, for a lot of reasons.)
Welcome to the new age of bloated Pentagon budgets, all to be justified by the great Chinese threat.

My take: pic.twitter.com/3c71EjFxiH
CNN's website is terrible. There's no mechanism for sharing. Had to go to Twitter. I hate going to Twitter. Watched this Zakaria piece, too, which I thought was really interesting. It's about COVID, so if your pandemic bandwidth isn't doing so great, maybe save it for later. It's more of a medical mystery thriller than anything, though.
When the pandemic began, it seemed likely that developing countries would see the worst of Covid-19.

Not so: @DrSidMukherjee has tried to explain why parts of Africa & South Asia have had a milder experience with the virus. pic.twitter.com/YCfotBn2UC
Dr. Mukherjee offers some really informative, concise possibilities. I've always admired that ability some people have - to convey meaningful information in a very limited amount of time. He does it in an interesting way, too. If you like mysteries, you should watch that clip.
